My Approach
My name is Oli (they/them) and I am a relational therapist. I believe that change happens not only through insight and understanding, but through connection and being met with honesty, care and presence. Sometimes, the difficulties we have out in the world also show up in therapy which gives us a chance to understand them in a way that hasn’t felt possible yet. This means that the relationship we build is an important part of the therapeutic process.
At the core, I believe everyone matters and has value. I bring warmth, openness and thoughtful attention to the people I work with. My style is collaborative and I’ll meet you without pressure or judgment. Therapy can be a place to feel heard and understood, or a space to challenge old beliefs and open up new possibilities for growth. I welcome both, and everything in between.
If you are interested to understand the ideas and theories I draw from, feel free to explore the drop downs below:
-
Together, we understand how patterns in your life may show up in your relationships, including ours
-
We tune in with our bodily sensations and inner knowledge to live with more authenticity, responsibility and freedom. We might speak creatively, using visualisation or role play. We all live in a particular socio-politico economic environment which is important for us to understand
-
By safely bringing difficult experiences into awareness they can become less overwhelming or threatening, and easier to live with
-
Understanding the different ‘parts’ of you can ease inner conflict. Even the parts that feel difficult or overwhelming developed for a good reason. In IFS, we approach these parts with curiosity and care, so they don’t have to work so hard in ways that no longer feel helpful
-
As a child, we adapt to feel accepted, loved or protected. As adults, this can cause us to feel confused, stuck or not fully ourselves. Understanding how this plays out now unlocks change. We might talk about the Parent, Adult and Child in us all, and how we relate to others from these positions
I’ve worked with clients on concerns including:
relationships and intimacy
trauma (including relational, childhood, and sexual trauma)
identity (including gender, sexuality, and neurodiversity)
low self-esteem
life transitions and feeling stuck
addiction
sexual concerns
experiences related to the prison system
I’m currently training as a psychotherapist on a UKCP-accredited master’s course in Integrative Psychotherapy. I am a member of UKCP and follow their guidelines of ethical practice.
If my approach resonates, I’d love to hear from you.
